Rotherham College of Arts and Technology are developing the range of apprenticeship pathways available and currently offer 21 different options to local employers and learners, covering the key sectors of industry.
A Guide to Learning in Engineering
Anyone living in England, any age and not in full-time education can apply to become an apprentice. Apprenticeships can take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of Apprenticeship, the apprentices’ ability and the industry sector. The minimum salary is £2.50 per hour for 16-24 year olds and £5.93 for 25+ year olds; however, many apprentices earn significantly more.

In January 2011 Rotherham College of Arts and Technology will also be launching a pre-apprenticeship program . This will provide a fast track service for learners interested in the Apprenticeship program but require additional support to achieve the entry requirements. Students will complete the Level 1 Certificate in Employability Skills, and a Maths and English functional skills, over a ten week program. This is suitable for a wide range of people, including the unemployed, students, returners-to-work, and people with special educational needs, people looking to change career or who have been made redundant.
