Rotherham College of Arts and Technology is home to the new Roland Music Academy – one of only three in the country and the first in the North of England. The College music academy is part of Roland’s scheme to promote the music industry in Education.

The exciting and innovative partnership between the College and Roland UK has created specialist training facilities and music equipment for students who want to widen their career opportunities in the music industry.

The academy runs alongside the College’s existing BTEC National Diploma or equivalent NCFE courses in music and music technology, and is classed as ‘enrichment’. Students benefit from a course handbook written by Roland, assignments are delivered and monitored by the College, but are moderated by the Roland’s education division. The two year course culminates in a viva voce interview, which is assessed by Roland UK’s Head of Education, David Barnard.

Students who attend the Roland Academy will be taught about career development, product knowledge, marketing and communications, and there will be presentations delivered by Roland artists and guest speakers. Assignments will be delivered using facilities which use Roland and Edirol hardware, as well as Cakewalk’s Sonar and Make Music’s Finale software.
